Website in a Box Template: Setup Guide [READ FIRST]

Hey there, and welcome to your brand-new Website in a Box template!

If you’re feeling a mix of excitement and slight panic, you’re in the right place. This guide is here to walk you through every step of customizing your new site, even if you’ve never touched WordPress before.

Spoiler alert: You don’t need to be “techy.” You just need a willingness to click around, follow instructions, and take it one section at a time. And if you ever get stuck? I’ve got your back.

What You Can Expect

This Help Center includes step-by-step instructions, written in plain English, to guide you through tasks like:

  • Swapping out the demo text for your own
  • Changing your logo and brand colors
  • Embedding your calendar
  • Updating your testimonials
  • Adding your lead magnet
  • And more

Your site is built using WordPress + Elementor Pro (which I’ve already set up for you), and it’s designed to be as beginner-friendly as possible. Think of this guide like your website’s personal user manual—with no tech jargon and no small talk.

Who This Is For

This guide was written with total beginners in mind. You do not need any prior experience with:

  • WordPress
  • Elementor
  • Coding
  • Fancy design tools

As long as you can log in, click, and copy/paste, you’ll do just fine. I’ve already taken care of the “hard stuff” like installing WordPress, connecting your domain, and getting your site to look like the demo.

What You’ll Need

Before we dive in, make sure you have:

  • Your logo files (transparent PNG format works best)
  • Your brand colors (hex codes, if you have them)
  • Your business copy or messaging (if you’ve already written it)
  • A little bit of patience—and maybe a snack

Don’t Forget to Back Up Your Work

Every Website in a Box template includes the UpdraftPlus backup plugin, which makes it easy for you to save your progress.

I recommend saving a backup at the end of every editing session, especially if:

  • You’re working in batches (e.g., over the weekend)
  • You plan to step away for a few days before editing again
  • You just finished a chunk of work you don’t want to lose

And if things go sideways? Don’t panic.
Just shoot me an email—I can restore a clean version of your site from a backup so you can start fresh.

A Quick Note Before You Start

If something doesn’t look right, don’t panic—it’s almost always fixable. WordPress is kind of like a digital sandbox. You can’t break the site by clicking around, and I’ve built this template to be flexible, easy to update, and tough to mess up.

You’ve got this—and I’m cheering you on the whole way.

Now let’s get started!
